The Gaspé-Picardy for Photography

Rencontres has been developing, since 2015, a partnership with Diaphane – Pôle photographique en Picardie. Through that association we work together on showcasing Québec and French artists, the photographic discipline, and the regions of the Gaspé and Picardy.

This international partnership has made it possible for Québec artists Jessica Auer and Normand Rajotte to be welcomed in Beauvais, Picardy, in artist residencies in the spring of 2016. They will be exhibiting at Beauvais during Les Photaumnales, from October 2016 to January 2017. The event will also host the exhibit The Photographic Book, curated by Serge Allaire.

For its part, Rencontres is welcoming French photographer Ambroise Tézenas for a residency in 2016; his work will be exhibited in 2017 at the 8th edition of the event.

The Gaspé-Vendée

Thanks to a collaboration between Rencontres and the Conseil Général de la Vendée in France, Québec photographer Maryse Goudreau, a native of the Gaspé region, carried out a research and creative residency on the landscape in Vendée in the fall of 2015. French artist Camille Hervouet, meanwhile, did a creative residency in the Gaspé during the spring of 2016. The two artists will be exhibiting at the Vendéthèque in Montaigu, France, from July 1 to 27, 2016. And Rencontres will be hosting the exhibit of Maryse Goudreau in the summer of 2016 in the Gaspé, while Camille Hervouet will exhibit here in the summer of 2017.
