On August 17 at 5 p.m., at Centre d\u2019artistes Vaste et Vague in Carleton-sur-Mer, the public can attend the vernissage of the exhibit Stripes and Stripes<\/em> by Nick Kline<\/strong><\/a> (New York, New York) and the launch of the monograph L\u2019Appel<\/em> (SAGAMIE \u00c9dition d\u2019art) by Maryse Goudreau<\/strong><\/a> (Pointe-\u00e0-la-Croix, the Gasp\u00e9).<\/p>\n

On August 18 at noon, at the rest area in Cap-Chat, the vernissage for the exhibit Imperial Valley<\/em> by Christian Lamontagne<\/strong><\/a> (Sainte-F\u00e9licit\u00e9, Qu\u00e9bec) and for Gaspesian Women <\/em>by Jean-Fran\u00e7ois B\u00e9rub\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) and Sophie Jean<\/strong><\/a> (Rimouski, Qu\u00e9bec) is taking place.<\/p>\n

On August 18 at 7 p.m., at the recreation center in Marsoui, the official opening evening<\/strong> of the Rencontres professional week will unfold. A projection of the work of Normand Rajotte<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) and of Ewa Monika Zebrowski<\/strong><\/a> (Montr\u00e9al, Quebec) will be presented, and the artists will talk with the public about the interpretation of day-to-day life in photography.<\/p>\n

August 19 at 10 a.m., in the heart of the municipality of Rivi\u00e8re-\u00e0-Claude, will feature the vernissage of the first stage of the Platform <\/em>project by Serge Cl\u00e9ment<\/strong><\/a> as part of the Parcours du Point de vue<\/em><\/a>. The artist will present his project, and a discussion with the public will take place over breakfast. That activity will be followed, at 2 p.m., by a guided tour of La Presse: Current events from 1990 to 2012<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a 100-photo exhibit in Grande-Vall\u00e9e, on the Galipeault covered bridge. In the evening, on the theme of \u201cThe artist \u2013 architect of change!,\u201d the public can attend a projection and a lecture on the artistic career of Edward Burtynsky<\/strong><\/a> (Toronto, Ontario), of Gabor Szilasi<\/strong><\/a> and of Doreen Lindsay<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage of the Mus\u00e9e de la Gasp\u00e9sie in the town of Gasp\u00e9.<\/p>\n

On August 20 at 2 p.m., in the park at the courthouse in Perc\u00e9, the vernissage will be held for the second stage of the Platform <\/em>project by Serge Cl\u00e9ment<\/strong> <\/a>(Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) as part of the Parcours du Point de vue<\/em><\/a>. The public can hear a presentation by the artist about his project, carried out over a more than 20-year period in the Gasp\u00e9 and the Magdalen Islands, and discuss it with him. At 6 p.m., people can take part in Event for the memory of the docks <\/em>by Maryse Goudreau<\/strong> (Pointe-\u00e0-la-Croix, the Gasp\u00e9) on the CTMA dock in Chandler. A get-together on the site of the photo installations by Guillaume D.<\/strong> and Yana Ouellet<\/strong><\/a> (Quebec City, Qu\u00e9bec), Gasp\u00e9sie Human Less (part 1)<\/em>, will take place in the second part of the evening, near the marina.<\/p>\n

On August 21 at 7 p.m., at the Banc-de-P\u00eache-de-Pasp\u00e9biac historic site (in Pasp\u00e9biac), a projection of the work of Jocelyne Alloucherie<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) and of Flora<\/strong><\/a> (Paris, France) will be held in the presence of these artists, who will talk about their careers.<\/p>\n

On August 22 at 7 p.m. at the Bonaventure marina a projection and a get-together will be held with Vanessa Winship<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(London, U.K.) and then with Eli Lalibert\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> (Cascap\u00e9dia\u2013Saint-Jules, the Gasp\u00e9). Aurore<\/em> and Parfum de lumi\u00e8re,<\/em> two short films by Serge Cl\u00e9ment<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec), will be screened afterwards.<\/p>\n

On August 23 at 7 p.m., at the Saint-Laurent-de-Matap\u00e9dia church (in Matapedia), a projection of the work of Guy Lavigueur<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(Montr\u00e9al, Qu\u00e9bec) will be held, as well as of that of Roger Proulx<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec), in addition to a discussion on their various creation projects.<\/p>\n

On August 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Centre d\u2019artistes Vaste et Vague in Carleton-sur-Mer, on the theme of \u201cPhotojournalism: Its future and its practice,\u201d a get-together and discussion will take place with Anja Niedringhaus<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(Geneva, Switzerland), Martin Beaulieu<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) and Martin Tremblay<\/strong><\/a> (La Presse<\/em>, Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec).<\/p>\n

On August 25 at 10 a.m., at the Saint-Omer rest area, Rencontres offers a visit to the exhibit by Martin Beaulieu<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec), followed by a breakfast get-together with Aislinn Leggett<\/strong><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) at Place du March\u00e9 (yard of the Petite \u00c9cole) in Nouvelle. Finally, at 6 p.m., under the tent at the Parc du Vieux-Quai in Maria, the public can take part in the closing evening of the Rencontres professional week, presented in collaboration with the Municipality of Maria. Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Nadeau<\/strong>, director of the cultural pages at the newspaper Le<\/em> Devoir<\/em>, will comment on the exhibit Le Devoir: Current events from 1990 to 2012<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which presents 122 photos in Maria. Moreover, a selection of photographs by all the artists participating in the 3rd edition of Rencontres will be presented on a large screen.<\/p>\n
